FAQ

Where are you located?
Our work together will be done by meeting online, so we’ll be in the comfort of your home or office (or any place that’s private where you have access to the Internet).
What are your hours?

It depends on my mood.

No… just kidding! It actually depends on the day, so it’s best that we just talk it through. I’ll tell you my availability.

I can tell you that my last appointment in the day is 6pm and that I don’t work on weekends.

What are your fees?
I charge $225 for a single session.
How long are your sessions?
They are 50 to 55 minutes.
What about insurance?
I don’t take insurance directly, but I can give you a “superbill” that may help you get reimbursement if your insurance covers out-of-network mental health services.
What is your cancellation policy?

Call at least 48 hours in advance to cancel. Otherwise, you will be charged for the appointment.

If there is a true emergency, the fee will be waived.

What if I want to set up an initial appointment?

Simple. Just fill out the Contact form at the bottom of the site, and we can schedule a free 30-minute Zoom consultation (that’s an online web conferencing service).

That will help us both decide if we should move forward and work together.

What happens in therapy with you?

It depends on many factors, and each session is different. But, as a general rule, we will collaborate with each other. I will ask you questions, invite you to practice different exercises, and comment about what I see and understand.

I put a great deal of emphasis on the present moment, so I will be constantly inviting you to track what is going on within your body, mind, and emotions.

Think of me as a supportive presence, helping you see your blind spots and providing a safe space for deep exploration. In a way, I am constantly finding the right balance between challenge and support. It’s in that “sweet spot” where growth happens.

How long will therapy last?
That depends, my friend. I have seen some clients for 5 years; others I see for just a few sessions.
Can I see another therapist while seeing you?

If you’re seeing another therapist, I recommend that you be clear about your purpose for seeing two separate therapists.

I would also recommend that you make sure the work is complementary and not redundant. In such a case, it might be helpful for me to have a talk with the other therapist.

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

You don’t without knowing me first. That is why I set up the free 30-minute virtual consultation. We’ll get to know each other and see if we might be a right fit.

Also, even after we begin therapy, you can change your mind and decide you don’t want to continue working with me. In that case, I can help you find someone else that might be a better fit.

Have you been in therapy yourself?

Oh yes, I have. Many times in my life.

How could I do this work if I hadn’t? Although currently I am not in therapy, I often go back to it whenever I want to learn about some new modality or when I need help understanding and processing some personal issue.

Am I allowed to ask personal questions?
Of course. I might not answer all the questions that you ask me, but I encourage you to ask any and all questions.
Dogs or Cats?
Sorry cat people; but for me, it’s dogs hands down. I actually have two, and I love them to pieces.
What is the meaning of life?
Do you really want me to answer that question?
